Track: Obstetric and Women’s Dermatology
Obstetric and women’s dermatology focuses on the unique skin conditions that arise during pregnancy, postpartum, and across the female life cycle. Hormonal changes, immune modulation, and physiological adaptations during pregnancy often manifest in the skin, ranging from benign physiological changes to serious dermatoses with implications for maternal and fetal health. Beyond pregnancy, women’s dermatology encompasses conditions influenced by hormonal fluctuations, reproductive health, and gender‑specific psychosocial factors. This session will highlight the intersection of dermatology, obstetrics, and women’s health, emphasizing both clinical management and holistic care.
Overview:
The session will provide a comprehensive exploration of dermatologic conditions in women, beginning with pregnancy‑specific dermatoses such as polymorphic eruption of pregnancy, pemphigoid gestationis, and intrahepatic cholestasis. Faculty will discuss physiological changes including melasma, striae, and vascular alterations, alongside conditions exacerbated by hormonal fluctuations such as acne, hidradenitis suppurativa, and autoimmune dermatoses. Special emphasis will be placed on safe therapeutic strategies during pregnancy and lactation, multidisciplinary collaboration with obstetricians, and psychosocial support for women experiencing visible skin changes. The program will also address dermatologic care across the female life cycle, including adolescence, reproductive years, and menopause, highlighting the role of hormones, contraception, and aging in skin health.
